Behold, I am doing a new thing;
now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?
I will make a way in the wilderness
and rivers in the desert.
Isaiah 43:19
The desert is a hot, dry place. It's miserable. Life is sapped away in the struggle to survive in the desert. One generally does not choose to go there and definitely not stay there.
My life has turned into a desert of sorts. I lost so much in 2019 as my sense of stability and predictability vanished. Over night my life turned from a lush rainforest to a dry desert. It's fairly miserable most days; I struggle to survive emotionally. I wouldn't be in this desert if I had my way.
However, I know that God has placed me here, and so I say, "not my way, but your way be done." The desert life has many trials, but in the middle of them all, I see my creator making a River. I also see how this beautiful River of grace has washed over the dry, cracked ground and has brought forth new life and new hope. No, I wouldn't have chosen the desert, but I'm thankful for the River which would have never come if it weren't for the desert.
This blog is a place for me to share this River with you. It's a place to take the truths that God is pressing into my life and share them in hopes that you find some refreshment for your life and your own deserts. And you'll likely hear a story or two about my kids' adventures and shenanigans along the way.
So grab a cup of coffee and come sit with me for a while. May God's love wash over us and fill us with new strength to face our days.
